In June 2019 I spent time nr the Iles Purpuraires in Essouria. At the end of the 1st century BC there was Tyrian purple factory where murex and purpura shells were processed for dye. The Island is now a protected nature reserve and is virtually inaccessible to humans. Thanks to Annie for letting me stay at the Blue Caravan Apartments. To Harley for sharing with me the Orange Apartment and to Halima for her generous hospitality. It was from there in Violet sliders bought from the market that I set out in search of Violet.
